Cor,
Getting to the heart of things
Cor is an official gift designed for Croatia’s
presidency of the European Union in the
first half of 2020.
Croatia’s nature is rich in colors, scents, and
textures to be enjoyed. In a pursuit to extract
the best out of what is at hand, inspired by
the traditional mortar and pestle, this tool is
designed for mixing, grinding and playing,
that is, reaching the essentials of nature and
discovering the flavor of the world around us.
Cor is a small two-piece utility set inspired by
the traditional mortar and pestle. The name
Cor (lat. Heart) refers to arrival to the “core”.
Through the process of manual grinding and
mixing ingredients, many aromas and flavors
are released.
The set consists of a mortar that fits in size
palm and a compatible element (pestle). The
mortar has a slit, whose function is to separate the leaflets of the herbs from twigs. With a simple swipe through the slit, the leaves remain in the pelvis and are then instantly grinded and used to prepare a fresh meal.
Cor is made of famous white stone from Brač,
Croatia. When not in use, it can stand on two
ways and acts as a sculpture/decoration in
space.
